1 Day Akagera National Park
This 1 Day Akagera National Park short tour is a trip taking you to experience an African exceptional tour exploring the land of Thousand Hills in Rwanda’s wildlife destination.
Akagera National Park, a mixture of Savannah and forested areas is densely located in the Northeastern part of Rwanda and is surely a beauty to visit for wild game lovers. Named after the Akagera River that flows along its eastern boundary, the park is gifted to have the forest-fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains and rolling highlands that make it the most scenic national parks anywhere in Africa. In Akagera National Park, you expect to find exceptional levels of biodiversity on your trip look out for mostly the big mammals.
Besides the biodiversity, Akagera national park is a Savannah park (actually the only savannah park) in Rwanda harbouring a number of wildlife species like the Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks and most recently Black Rhinos have been introduces from South Africa, making Akagera national park officially a big 5 park like it was many years ago. Bird lovers also have a chance to go birdwatching in this park since the park is also home to numerous bird species in the several habitats which include woodland, swamps, lakes, and Savannah.
On this one day tour, experience a classic true African safari experience in Rwanda – the land of “a Thousand Hills.” Start off your day with an expectation to visit the cultural communities in the park, sight the wildlife big 5, among other expectations.
Early morning, you will be picked up our driver guide at 5:30 am for your day trip to Akagera national park, The drive takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach and then after a quick check-in at the park, you will start your game drive taking about 5 to 6 hours depending on your arrival time. While on your game drive with our guide, you will enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds of this Savannah park gazing at the Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Lions, leopard, and Rhinos were recently introduced into the park. You will have your lunch within the designated picnic areas in the park and later return to Kigali.

Best Time to Visit
The best wildlife viewing months in Uganda and Rwanda are during the Dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Rwanda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and one can’t avoid rain completely.
How to Obtain Tourist Entry Visa
The most easier way of getting a visa to Uganda is by purchasing it at the entry point, Entebbe Airport or any border station. This is very possible for tourists. All you need to do is pay USD 50, fill in the application form with passport dates and information. The visa fee of USD 50 usually runs for 90 days.
