The forest is also home to 13 species of primates including Olive baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Ruwenzori colobus, Vervet monkeys, silver monkey, Grey-cheeked manga-bey, red-tailed monkey, etc.  You will most likely sight some of these forest inhabitants on your chimpanzee trekking. After that will do a Canopy walk which will rest 2 hours and then will take safari back at Kigali where you started your safari.

Facts about Nyungwe National Park

Those especially looking for primates or birds will want to be sure to spend time in Nyungwe National Park. The forest is teeming with a vast array of flora and fauna throughout the park’s 1,000 square kilometers.
Nyungwe’s primates are just one reward for a walk through the forest with its viewing points and waterfalls. There are 13 species, including the chimpanzee, L’Hoest’s monkey and Angola colobus.

Nyungwe forest received only recently the status of National Park and became the largest protected high-altitude rainforest of East Africa. It was particularly important to protect the forest reserve when you know that the highest population pressures in Africa are to be found within the Albertine rift and that the forest is the biggest water reservoir for the country.

Nyungwe National Park, extending for almost 1 ,000km2 across the majestic hills of southeast Rwanda, is the largest ‘island’ of montane forest remaining in East or Central Africa: a rich and ancient centre of unparalleled bio diversity and natural wonders. Transected by the surfaced road between Butare and Lake Kivu, Nyungwe and its array of forest inhabitants are also uniquely accessible to casual visitors.

Best Time to Visit

The best wildlife viewing months in Uganda and Rwanda are during the Dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Rwanda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and one can’t avoid rain completely.

How to Obtain Tourist Entry Visa

The most easier way of getting a visa to Uganda is by purchasing it at the entry point, Entebbe Airport or any border station. This is very possible for tourists. All you need to do is pay USD 50, fill in the application form with passport dates and information. The visa fee of USD 50 usually runs for 90 days.
